Please forgive the shameless plug, but, with Christmas about to loom large in everyone's thoughts, I'd like to drop in a quick plug for my award-winning children's book, Tilly's Tale, written under my Harry Porter pseudonym. Now, when I say chil… Continue

Ok this is a bit off-topic, with a smile!
Question : What does walking the dog and sex equality have in common?
Answer : Rucksack distribution
Puzzled? Well next time you go out have a look at the couples who are out for a walk – and by that I mean with the walking boots and waterproofs etc. Not people who’ve just gone out for a stroll around the shops.
How many times do you see the man carrying all the kit?

Wow, did we all get a surprise on Friday. Harry and the family went out for a while and when he returned, guess what? When Harry let us all out of the house into the garden, what should be there, waiting for us to meet, but a beautiful little puppy. MUTTLEY is 18 weeks old and one of a litter of 9 Staffordshire Bull Terriers w… Continue

Funny how I was talking only a few days ago about the amount of exercise you can do being the key to choosing your dog – and how lack of exercise creates problem dogs.
It can even happen with toy breeds who traditionally are thought of as not needing much exercise.
I’ve just caught a programme on dog training where the problem was a Bichon Frise. Bichons are a low allergy toy dog breed. However, just like all other dogs they need sufficient exerci

It’s wet here today. ‘Light Rain’ the weather forecast map said, until about 1pm. Well that was right. So I took the dogs for a shorter walk this morning so we could have a longer one this evening when things fine up a bit.
Look , even for me who’s out with the dogs twice a day every day, walking in the rain and wind holds very little attraction!
It holds even less attraction for the dogs I can tell you. It might come as a surprise but not all dogs like the idea of getti

Don’t you think the brain is an amazing thing? How many times during the day does it do something seemingly random which then somehow has a purpose?
That’s what happened with today’s blog. I was thinking about a question I was asked on e-mail and my answer – which by the way I will post to the site later. All of a sudden the cogs start whirring and out pops a blog post!
Choosing a dog is a big decision, especially your first one. And it’s even more important when you hav

Is Your Dog allergy holding you back? Not any more!
Desperate for a dog but have a DOG ALLERGY? Well look no further. If you want the ONLY up to date list of non-shedding, low allergy and hypoallergenic dogs you've come to the right place.
There's a lot of rubbish on the internet about what is and isn't low allergy. Sadly some of it is coming from breeders who should know better. Some breeds which were classed as low allergy now aren't - but some sites

My blog today was going to be on a totally different subject, but then I had an e-mail which changed all that completely. I’m on a number of mailing lists from people who are all experts in their field. That’s because I like to learn and develop – and because they’ve all been down the path I’m going well before I ever did.
So today’s e-mail from Mike Dillard was really really relevant. Here’s what he had to say:

This blog was inspired by an e-mail I received from someone about wanting a dog but not having any time for exercising it.
All dogs need some exercise - even tiny toy ones - so it's not wise to get a dog if you really don't have any time for that. But at least they were being honest.
I once rehomed a foster dog to a couple who weren't honest about their circumstances. Of course this ended in disaster.
Mabel was a delightful
